1.              April 21, 2010:
Lecture on Islamic Banking by the Secretary General at the University of Applied Sciences (IMC FH Krems), Krems
Upon invitation by The Middle East Forum Krems / University of Applied Sciences, SG Khouja gave a presentation focussing on “Islamic Banking” within the "Export Experts" series of events. The SG took the opportunity to present a comprehensive insight on the activities of the AACC to an interested and future-oriented audience of students specialising in Export Management. Total number of participants: approx. 40 pax.
 
 
2.              May 4, 2010:
Renewable Energy: Reception, Presentation & Passive House Viewing, Johann-Baptist-Holtzer House, Korneuburg
An exclusive informational event with focus on renewable energy and related alternative construction techniques. Organised at the Johann-Baptist Holtzer Passive House in Korneuburg in cooperation with AACC member company “Das House” (CEO Karl-Heinz Wingelmaier), the event was attended by representatives of 13 Arab Embassies, among them 8 Arab Ambassadors, as well the Mayor and Vice-Mayor of Korneuburg, representatives of the Federal Austrian Foreign Ministry and the Federal Austrian Ministry for Economic and Family. Total number of participants: approx. 50 pax.
 
 
3.              May 17, 2010:
Opening of Painting Exhibition “Screens of Realities” by Mrs. Sandra Sahyoun & Reception, Raiffeisenzentralbank Vienna, Foyer
An elegant event of artistic impressions, organized by the AACC at the beautifully adapted Foyer of the Raiffeisen Zentralbank. The event was embellished by speeches of Dr. Herbert Stepic, President of the AACC, H.E. Ishaya El Khoury, Ambassador of Lebanon to Austria and attended by a highly interested audience of Arab Ambassadors, AACC members and others. Total number of participants: approx. 90 pax.

4.              May 31, 2010:
Fireside Chat with Dr. Wolfgang Penzias Trade Commissioner in Abu Dhabi at the Representation of the Austrian Economy in Bahrain, Katar, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates
Following a long-time tradition, the AACC provided its members again with the unique opportunity to meet with Austrian Trade Commissioners and Experts from the Austrian Trade Commissions in Arab countries for direct information exchange, question-and-answer and expert discussions at the well-established "AACC Fireside Chat". The focus of this time’s “Fireside Chat” was on the Arab Gulf region: Austrian Trade Commissioner Dr. Wolfgang Penzias, presented a highly interesting insight on present and future developments, projects, cooperations and investments in this special region. The following input and discussion with the participant members and representatives was held at very high and professional level and proved once more the benefit of such quality interaction events. Total number of participants: approx. 15 pax.
 


5.              June 10, 2010:
AACC at WKO Exporttag 2010 / Launch of AACC magazine SHARAKA
As every year, the AACC was happy to participate and exhibit at this year’s WKO Exporttag. With more than 2.600 visitors at one single day, the AACC seized the opportunity to present itself to potentially new members and inform interested clients on its scope of activities. Gaining new members and intensifying business relations with the AACC’s cooperation partners at the WKO as well as others proved again successful.
Simultaneously, the date marked also the launch of the new AACC magazine SHARAKA, which was presented and distributed among the interested audience and visitors. Total number of participants: approx. 2.600 (whole area) / 200 (AACC booth).
 
 
6.              July 5-9, 2010:
Training Seminar for Secretaries General of Arab Chambers
Being an already well-known and 'institutionalised' activity of the AACC taking place every two years, this year’s Training Seminar marked certainly one of the highlights of AACC events. High profile participants of Arab Chambers and Business Authorities from Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi-Arabia, Emirates, Oman and Libya, as well as an intensive and diversified program of training, information and visits made this event a thorough success. The AACC is proud to benefit noticeably from this Seminar, having gained a well-respected status of prestige and respect among other Arab chambers, Embassies and official institutions with this kind of program. Report & Feedback > see appendix. 7.              September 7, 2010:
Round Table “Success with Arabian Partners. Österreichs Chancen im arabischen Raum“
In cooperation with UIK-austria and ÖGV (Österreichischer Gewerbeverein), the AACC, represented by SG Mouddar Khouja, invited interested members for a round table discussion on success and business with Arab partners. The discussion was held at highest level, with high-profile participants from Porr, Austrian State Printing House, Gentics, Accès Aplintechnik, Foxmedia TV, Geospace, WKO/AWO and the Österreichische Gewerbeverein. The event was reported at the Austrian economic daily “Wirtschaftsblatt”. Total number of participants: 15 pax.
 
8.              October 27, 2010:
AACC as organizer of the Sudan Forum at Columbus Symposium, University of Applied Science, Salzburg
Upon request by the organizers, the AACC agreed to cooperate at the upcoming Columbus Symposium, an annual congress over three days at the University of Applied Science Salzburg under the patronage of Former Austrian Vice-Chancellor Dr. Erhard Busek, on the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility investments in frontier markets. The AACC was responsible to organize and coordinate the panel focussing on Arab developing countries by inviting adequate speakers, determining the topics of panel discussion. Having chosen the Republic of Sudan as the focus country of this year’s event, the AACC, together with the Sudanese Embassy in Austria, succeeded to invite His Excellency Abdulrahim Hamdi, Former Minister of Finance of Sudan, to participate as a key note speaker at the event. His Excellency Mr. Mahmoud Elamin, Ambassador of Sudan in Austria, and Dipl.-Ing. Paul Slatin, President of the Austro-Sudanese Friendship Society, were also participating as panel speakers at the Forum. With the AACC as the main cooperation partner of the Symposium, AACC Secretary General Dipl.-Ing. Mouddar Khouja was presenting the Chamber at the Opening Panel of the Symposium, together with representatives from Strabag and the Federation of Austrian Industry. Total number of participants: 40-50 pax.
    
9.              November 10, 2010:
Round Table with Prof. Ahmad Abdolaziz, General Director of the Syrian Investment Agency
On the occasion of the visit of Prof. Ahmad Abdolaziz, General Director of the Syrian Investment Agency to Austria, the AACC invited its members and partner institutions for a Round Table discussion to talk about investment opportunities and envision future project perspectives between Syria and Austria. The Round Table was met with considerable attention, high-profile discussions and was honoured by attendance of H.E. Bassam Sabbagh, Ambassador of Syria, H.E. Dr. Mikhail Wehbe, Ambassador and Director of the Office of the Arab League in Vienna, Min. pp. Mohammad Alarwy, Embassy of Yemen, Mr. Anwar El-Amad, public relations, Embassy of Oman and interested AACC members. Total number of participants: ca. 20 pax.
 
10.          December 9, 2010:
General Assembly - 4th Austro-Arab Economic Forum & Exhibition
The AACC will held its annual General Assembly this year at the premises of the headquarters of Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce (WKO). The General Assembly was embedded as part of a whole-day program by the AACC, featuring as well the 4th Austro-Arab Economic Forum & Exhibition which was providing opportunities for business investment, cooperation and networking between Austria and the Arab Countries. Total number of participants: ca. 150 pax.
 
11.          December 9, 2010:
Gala Dinner on the occasion of the merger between AACC and AECC
The AACC celebrates the merger of the Austro-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce (AECC) with the Austro-Arab Chamber of Commerce (AACC) in March 2010 with an exclusive Gala Dinner in a celebratory atmosphere at the Hotel Hilton Stadtpark. It was also the occasion to celebrate a tribute to Dr. Herbert Stepic and his naming as the AACC Honorary President for Life. Total number of participants: ca. 200 pax.

B. Activities (selected)
 --Business trips
 
April 6-12, 2010
Business trip
of SG Khouja to attend the FGCCC Outlook Forum in Doha, Qatar (April 6-8) and meet representatives of the construction companies Qatari Diyar and Barwa together with members of the AACC. Continuation of trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (9-12 April), to meet with HE Dr. Fahad Alsultan, SG of Council of Saudi Chambers, the Austrian Embassy in Riyadh and to discuss potential cooperation opportunities with the Saudi Export Program and Saudi Cable Company Mubayli. During this visit, the promise HE Dr. Fahad Alsultan’s attendance at the AACC Training Seminar (held in July) was obtained.
         

April 26-29, 2010
SG Khouja participates at the Annual Meeting of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Agriculture and Industry in Arab Countries in Beirut, Lebanon, chairing one panel during the meeting, presenting the activities of the AACC as well as an overview on current Austro-Arab business, trade and economy and introducing the concept of a specialised inter-linked information platform for the Arab chambers and joint chambers. Meeting and exchange with representatives of other chambers as well as companies (eg. Byblos Bank).
 
 
August 30 – September 6, 2010
 
SG Khouja undertakes a business trip to Syria to meet with high official representatives, and for the acquisition of new members and investors. During a specially organised Iftar event on August 31, in cooperation with the Federation of Syrian Chambers, the SG meets with approx. 40 businesspeople to present the activities and potential of the AACC. Official and other visits included meetings with high ranking officials and representatives of Syria’s presidency, economy, trade and business.

October 25-29, 2010
Visit of H.E. Mr. Abdulrahim Hamdi, Former Minister of Finance in Sudan, in Austria to attend the Columbus Symposium in Salzburg as coordinated by the AACC. Invitation by H.E. Mr. Elamin, Ambassador of Sudan,  for a Dinner at his residence, to honour the delegate and the coordination provided by the AACC.
Meeting with Dr. Herbert Stepic, President of the AACC and Director General of the Raiffeisen Bank International, H.E. Mr. Abdulrahim Hamdi, Former Minister of Finance in Sudan, H.E. Mr. Youssef El-Kordofani, Minister Counsellor and SG Khouja at the Raiffeisen Bank International, also coordinated by the AACC.
 
Novemver 9-12, 2010
Visit of H.E. Prof Dr. Ahmad Abdelaziz Director General of the Syrian Investment Agency, in Austria; AACC organised meetings at the Austrian Ministry of Economy, Oesterreichische Kontrollbank and the Austrian Federal Chancellery – eGovernment Department.
Outcome: The Syrian Investment Agency has declared the Year of 2011 as the eGovernment – Investment Year in Syria.
 
November 25, 2010
SG Khouja meeting with H.E. Mr. Awad Ahmed Aljazz, Minister of Industry of Sudan and H.E. Mr. Elamin, Ambassador of Sudan to discuss the industrial cooperation between Austria and Sudan.
