Courtesy Visit of H.E. Talal Alfassam, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, and Secretary-General to Salzburg

The Austro-Arab Chamber of Commerce (AACC) organized a visit for His Excellency Talal Alfassam, the Ambassador of Kuwait to Austria, to Salzburg. Deputy Governor Mag. Stefan Schnöll warmly welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation. He highlighted the importance of Arab tourists, especially from Gulf countries like Kuwait, who are drawn to Salzburg for its clean water, well-preserved historic sites, and natural beauty.
Ambassador Alfassam provided updates on Kuwait’s latest developments under the new leadership of the Prince, which has brought a positive shift in the country's politics, economy, and society. He emphasized the strong relationship between Kuwait and Austria, noting the significant number of Kuwaiti tourists who visit Salzburg.
A major focus of the Ambassador’s visit was to strengthen investment and cooperative ventures between Salzburg and Kuwait, particularly in renewable energy sectors.
Dipl. Ing. Khouja, Secretary-General of the AACC, spoke about the trade volume between Salzburg and Kuwait, highlighting opportunities for expansion. He pointed out Kuwait’s economic strength, backed by having the world’s sixth-largest oil reserves and a dependable financial sector. He also mentioned Kuwait’s unique policy of guaranteeing full repayment of deposits in case of a bank failure.
Vice Governor Schnöll will extend an invitation to the delegation to the Salzburg Summer Festival.
The visit included a meeting with Andrea Stifter, Vice President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, who expressed her connection to Kuwait and saw potential for increased cooperation in tourism and industry. She noted the presence of major companies in Salzburg like Palfinger, Red Bull, and Porsche, and the possibility for further economic engagement.
H.E. Ambassador Alfassam reiterated Kuwait's interest in partnerships focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Secretary-General Khouja proposed a cultural and economic showcase of Kuwait in Salzburg during the 2025 Summer Festival.
The program also involved a visit to the Salzburg Provincial Police Directorate, where the Deputy Brigadier, Gottfried Gamsjäger, welcomed the delegation and commended the smooth cooperation to date, noting the absence of any significant issues. Ambassador Alfassam acknowledged the increasing visits of Kuwaiti tourists not only during the summer but also in the winter, and offered the embassy’s support in facilitating translations and other necessary services. He also praised the local police for their effective collaboration.
In conclusion, Secretary-General Khouja offered the Chamber’s assistance in facilitating information exchange and support within Arab countries, reinforcing the AACC’s commitment to fostering robust international ties.
