On 21 December 2022, AACC Secretary-General Eng. Mouddar Khouja paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) to discuss avenues of cooperation between AACC & OFID. SG Khouja presented the Chamber’s role and objectives and provided an overview of Austria’s and Europe’s economy in light of the current global conflicts, as well as the consequent challenges expected to arise.
From his side, H.E. Dr. Alkhalifa elaborated on OFID’s projects implemented by private sector companies across OFID’s 125 partner countries, which constitutes a major field for an AACC-OFID cooperation. H.E. Dr. Alkhalifa also presented OFID’s plan with regards to low-carbon and alternative energy, including securing such energy sources in the countries where OFID operates, in addition to the pressing matter of food supply and food security for certain countries.

H.E. DG Alkhalifa also discussed with SG Khouja ways to bring OFID’s crucial scope of work and activities under the spot within the Viennese and Austrian business community through organising joint high-level events. The two delved into prospects for funding a number of projects, and DG Alkhalifa reiterated OFID’s continued support for and participation in AACC’s activities.
Worthy of mentioning is OFID’s expansion to include another building right next to its premises on the Ringstrasse, one of Vienna’s most renowned streets in the city centre.
